Google Merchant Center

Also known as: Merchant Center · GMC

Definition

Google Merchant Center is Google's free tool for uploading and managing product data so products can appear across Google, including free listings and, when linked to Google Ads, Shopping ads. Approval depends on feed quality, store details and policy compliance.

Merchant Center holds the product data, and Google Ads decides how to spend money showing it. You can add products at sign-up, upload them in a file, or link a store platform such as Shopify so that changes sync. Each product gets a status, and the diagnostics area lists the reasons for any that are disapproved, which is where most of the practical work happens.

Set it up for how UAE shoppers buy: dirhams as the currency, delivery speed and cost that reflect real rates by emirate, a returns policy you'll honour, and English and Arabic product data as separate language versions. A linked, healthy feed is also what lets Performance Max and Shopping campaigns sell individual products rather than just a brand. Check the diagnostics weekly, and before a sale period, not after products have dropped out of the ads.
