Performance Max
Definition
Performance Max is a Google Ads campaign type that runs across Google's inventory, including Search, YouTube, Display, Discover, Gmail and Maps, from one set of assets and a conversion goal. Google's automation decides where each ad appears.
You supply assets, audience signals and a goal, and the system assembles the ads, picks the placements and sets the bids. That brings reach and heavy automation, and it takes away the keyword-level view, so the levers left are the conversion goal, the budget, the assets, the exclusions and how much freedom Google has to choose the landing page. It uses Smart Bidding, so judge it over a period with enough conversions, not after a few days.
Two points matter more in the UAE than most set-up guides suggest. First, it learns from whatever you count as a conversion, so if a WhatsApp button click counts as a sale, it will get very good at buying clicks. Second, Google says it may replace the final URL with a page it judges more relevant, which for clinics and property developers can put a page, and the claims on it, in front of customers unreviewed. Run Search first, prove the offer converts, then add Performance Max with the final URL setting under your control.
