Ad fatigue
Definition
Ad fatigue is the decline in an ad's performance as the same people see it repeatedly, usually visible as rising frequency and falling click-through rate before cost per result climbs. The remedy is fresh creative or a wider audience, not a bigger budget.
The warning signs usually arrive in this order: frequency climbs, click-through rate slips, CPM rises, and cost per result moves last. By the time the final one shifts, budget has already been wasted, so watch the first two. Rule out other causes before blaming the creative, such as a seasonal dip, a new competitor or a change in the offer.
A narrow UAE audience, such as Arabic speakers in one emirate or homeowners in one community, runs through its fresh viewers sooner than a national one. Decide a trigger before launch, for example a weekly frequency of three on a cold audience, and treat it as the cue to rotate creative. Replace the opening, not just the colour palette, because viewers decide in the first seconds and a new hook is a new ad. Bilingual variants refresh only the audience that reads them.
