Product feed

Also known as: data feed · shopping feed · product data feed

Definition

A product feed is a structured file or connection listing each product's details, such as title, price, availability, image and identifiers, which shopping platforms use to build listings and ads. Its accuracy decides whether products are approved, matched to searches and shown.

One feed can serve several channels: Google's merchant tool, a Meta catalogue, TikTok and marketplace integrations, each with slightly different formatting rules. The fields that earn their keep are the title, which should lead with what shoppers type, the image, the correct brand and product identifiers where they exist, and a price and stock level that match the product page.

Most feed trouble is a mismatch: the feed says one price and the page another, or an item is out of stock on the site and still advertised. Sale periods make it worse, because a feed that updates on a schedule can lag the live price. For a bilingual store, supply English and Arabic data as separate language versions, with Arabic titles written by a native writer rather than machine-translated, show prices in dirhams, and make sure the feed and the page present VAT the same way.
