Cheap SEO in Dubai: what you're actually buying

A low SEO fee buys a few hours of someone's month, spent on templates. The hours arithmetic, the tactics that fill them, and what a small budget can still do.

The short answer

Cheap SEO in Dubai buys very few hours of a specialist's month. After the agency covers its own costs, a low fee leaves time only for templates, bulk link packages, thin pages and rank reports on easy terms. Do the hours sum before you sign, and if the budget is small, do the local basics yourself.

Cheap SEO is a number of hours, not a discount. Take the monthly fee, subtract what the agency needs for rent, tools, sales and its own margin, and divide what is left by what the person doing the work costs per hour. The answer is the time your site gets each month, and it's the figure most proposals never show you.

How many hours does a low fee actually buy?

A low fee buys about as many hours as a couple of working days, and the sum shows why. Say a specialist costs the agency AED 17,000 a month all-in, with 110 billable hours, which is about AED 155 an hour. Say a third of every fee goes on overheads and margin. Every input is made up, so swap in the agency's real ones.

Illustrative sum with made-up inputs, to be replaced with the agency's real figures
Monthly feeLeft after a third for overheads and marginHours of specialist time at AED 155 an hour
AED 3,000AED 2,000about 13
AED 6,000AED 4,000about 26
AED 12,000AED 8,000about 52

Now list what a month of real SEO contains: checking what changed on the site, fixing what broke, researching, writing and editing two or three useful pages in the right language, internal links, a few earned mentions, tracking, and a report that explains what moved. Put an honest number of hours against each line and compare the total with the right-hand column. One properly researched page takes hours, and a report takes more, so on these inputs a month with 13 hours in it is gone before any fixing starts.

In our view, under about AED 5,000 a month the sums stop working altogether. One competent marketer in the UAE costs more than that to employ, so a fee below it pays for junior hands without oversight, or for one template run across many accounts.

What do cheap packages fill the hours with?

  • Link packages. A fixed number of links for a fixed price. Links matter, because Google says prominence draws on how many websites link to a business, but bulk links are cheap precisely because nobody earned them. Paid links are the tactic where the downside lands on you, so read Google's current spam policies before anyone buys links in your name.
  • Thin pages. A page per area or per keyword with the place name swapped. Google's spam policy defines scaled content abuse as many pages generated mainly to manipulate rankings rather than help users, and names generative AI pages with no added value as an example.
  • AI at volume. AI makes a thin page cheap to produce, which is how a low fee can promise dozens a month. Google's February 2023 guidance says it rewards good content however it was made, and treats AI used mainly to manipulate search rankings as a breach of its spam policies.
  • Vanity reports. A count of keywords on page one where most are your company name or phrases nobody searches, a third-party authority score creeping up, or visits from countries you don't sell to. Ask for clicks on searches that don't contain your company name, and for enquiries.
  • Directory blasts. Your details submitted to hundreds of listings. A consistent name, address and phone number in a few real listings helps local results (NAP consistency), but volume doesn't.
  • Template audits. A tool-generated PDF that counts errors without ranking them, when an SEO audit should end in a ranked list of fixes.

Why can the cheapest SEO end up costing the most?

The cheapest SEO can cost the most because the clean-up and the lost months land on you. Thin pages have to be rewritten or removed, bought links are hard to undo, and the months you spent waiting are months a competitor spent publishing. None of that appears on the invoice.

A low fee isn't always dishonest. Some small agencies sell a small amount of work, and that's fine when the invoice says so. The risk is a low monthly fee for 'ongoing SEO', which promises an outcome while paying for hours that can't deliver one. The same sum catches a high fee too, if a junior is doing the work.

Can a small budget still work?

A small budget works if you do the local work yourself and spend money only on small, defined jobs. For most local businesses the free work is a complete Google Business Profile, a routine for asking for reviews, a clear page for each service, and the same name, address and phone number everywhere. A month of four hours a week covers the set-up.

  1. 01Week 1, about 4 hours: claim or create your Business Profile, choose the right primary category, and add real photos and your hours (Google Business Profile in the UAE).
  2. 02Week 2, about 4 hours: write a page for each service you sell, in English and, if customers use it, in Arabic written by a native speaker.
  3. 03Week 3, about 4 hours: set up the review routine, with a direct link sent on WhatsApp (getting more Google reviews).
  4. 04Week 4, about 4 hours: check that the name, address and phone number match on your site, your profile and your main listings, and that Search Console is installed.
  5. 05After that, about one hour a week: ask for reviews, reply to every one, and update your hours before holidays.

Spend money on fixed-scope jobs instead of a retainer: a one-off technical check, a new service page, a profile set-up. Small scopes can be priced low honestly because the work is small.

What should you ask a cheap SEO company before paying?

  • How many hours of a named specialist's time does this fee buy each month?
  • Which tasks fill those hours, and how long does each one take?
  • Where will links come from, and can you see each one before it goes live?
  • Will every Google account be in your name from day one?

The answers separate a small honest job from a template. Our own SEO service starts from AED 12,000 a month before VAT, set by scope, and the same four questions apply to our quote. The wider checklist is in how to vet an SEO expert in Dubai, and SEO cost in Dubai covers what moves the fee. Send the four questions before you pay a deposit, and do the hours sum on whatever comes back.

Questions people ask

01Is cheap SEO worth it?

Rarely as a monthly retainer. A low fee buys very few hours of specialist time, so the work tends to be templates, bulk links and reports on easy terms. Small fixed-scope jobs, such as a one-off technical check or a Business Profile set-up, can be priced low honestly and are worth buying.

02What is a reasonable price for SEO in Dubai?

No verified market rate exists to quote. Our SEO work starts from AED 12,000 a month, excluding VAT, priced on scope. Rather than comparing headline prices, ask any provider how many hours of a named specialist's time the fee buys each month and which tasks those hours cover.

03Can cheap SEO hurt my website?

It can. Thin or mass-produced pages fall under Google's scaled content abuse policy, and bought links can breach its spam policies, either of which can leave you paying to clean up. The larger damage is usually lost months, since competitors kept publishing while you waited.

04Why are some Dubai SEO packages so cheap?

A low fee leaves few hours, so the work has to be standardised: the same tasks for every client, junior or offshore staff, fixed-price link packages and automated reports. The fee covers little tailored work on your site, which is why the hours sum matters more than the headline price.

05Can I do SEO myself?

The local basics, yes. A complete Google Business Profile, a routine for asking for reviews, a clear page for each service and consistent contact details cost time rather than fees. Technical fixes, Arabic content and link building are harder to do alone, so hire help for those once the basics are in place.
