Google Search Console

Also known as: GSC · Search Console · Webmaster Tools

Definition

Google Search Console is a free Google tool that shows how a website appears in Google Search: which queries bring impressions and clicks, which pages are indexed, and what problems Google found. It reports on Google only, not on other search engines or other traffic.

Three reports do most of the work. Performance lists the queries, pages, countries and devices behind impressions and clicks. The pages report under indexing shows which addresses Google has stored and why it left others out. URL Inspection checks a single page: whether it is indexed, which address Google treats as canonical, and what the page looks like to Google's crawler. Average position is an average across everything shown, so it is not where any one person saw you.

It measures what happens before the click, and only on Google. Google Analytics 4 measures what visitors do after arriving, from every source, so the two never match exactly: clicks are not sessions. Use Search Console to learn how people reach you and GA4 to learn what they do next. The Arabic queries your pages already appear for show up here too, including spelling variants nobody planned.

Verify the site as a domain property, in the business's own Google account, and give the agency user access instead of ownership. If the Arabic version lives in its own folder, add that folder as a separate property so Arabic results can be reported on their own.
