AI readiness
Definition
Whether a business has the process documentation, data quality and decision ownership for AI to add value. Readiness is mostly organisational: the constraint is almost never model capability.
A useful readiness check has four questions. Is the process written down? Is the data that feeds it clean and in one place? Is there a named owner who can approve a change? And does the process run often enough for automation to pay back?
Automation does not create order, it accelerates whatever order exists. A business that answers no to the first question will get a faster version of its current confusion, which is how most disappointing AI projects begin.
