Whitelisting (creator ads)

Also known as: allowlisting · spark ads · partnership ads

Definition

Whitelisting is when a creator grants a brand permission to run paid advertising directly from the creator's own social handle, so the ad appears to come from the creator rather than the brand.

The advantage is credibility and social proof — the ad carries the creator's name, follower count and existing engagement, which typically produces better cold-audience performance than the same creative from a brand account.

It requires explicit permission through the platform's partnership tools and a contract covering usage period and scope. Running creator content from a brand account without those rights is a common and avoidable legal exposure.
