Lead magnet

Also known as: gated content · free resource · opt-in incentive

Definition

A lead magnet is a free resource, such as a guide, checklist, calculator or sample, offered in exchange for contact details. It works when the resource solves a small, real problem and leads naturally to the paid service.

The best magnets are a smaller version of what you sell. A cost calculator, an audit checklist or a sample report attracts people with the problem you solve, while a generic guide attracts collectors. Test any idea with one question: would the person who wants this plausibly buy from you in the next 90 days? If not, it's a content asset, not a lead magnet.

Ask for as little as you need. In the UAE a WhatsApp number often beats an email address, so offer to deliver the resource there and make clear, with a consent line, what messages will follow. Confirm the number with a code or a reply, and provide Arabic and English versions as separate assets, not as a translation tacked on. Judge the magnet by cost per qualified lead and by what happens next, not by downloads. Anything touching regulated claims, such as health or property, must follow the sector's advertising rules.
