Domain Rating (DR)

Also known as: DR · domain authority · DA

Definition

Domain Rating is a third-party score from 0 to 100 estimating a website's backlink profile strength. It is produced by SEO tools, not by Google, and is comparative rather than absolute.

DR and the equivalent Domain Authority metric are useful for comparing candidate sites for outreach or benchmarking against competitors. They are not used by Google, do not appear in any ranking system, and can be inflated by link schemes that will eventually cause harm.

Treat them as directional. A rising DR alongside rising rankings and traffic suggests link acquisition is working; a rising DR with flat traffic usually indicates links that are numerous rather than relevant.
