Ramadan e-commerce in the UAE: timing, offers and delivery

Ramadan 2027 is expected to start on 8 February. A backwards calendar for UAE online stores: when to prepare, what to offer and which Eid dates to publish.

The short answer

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on 8 February, subject to moon sighting, so finish your plan before the Dubai Shopping Festival starts on 4 December. Admitad reported that UAE online sales value rose about 20% during Ramadan 2025. Win your share with promises you can keep: publish Eid cut-off dates by courier speed, and test send times against your own order data.

Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on 8 February, according to UAE Astronomy Centre projections reported by The National, and subject to moon sighting. That is 93 days after 7 November. The date that matters more for planning is 4 December, when the Dubai Shopping Festival starts, running to 17 January according to its organiser, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment.

So the weeks in which you'd prepare for Ramadan are the weeks in which you're busiest selling something else. That collision is the real planning problem, and it has a plain fix: finish the Ramadan plan before 4 December and leave only execution for the weeks that follow.

How much extra can you expect to sell in Ramadan?

Plan from your own last Ramadan, not from a market headline. According to Admitad, an affiliate network, online sales value in the UAE rose about 20% during Ramadan 2025, as Khaleej Times reported in February 2026. That is one network's figure for the whole market, so it says nothing about your category, your price points or whether you had stock.

Your own data answers it better. Take daily revenue for last Ramadan and divide it by the daily average of the four weeks before. If your store didn't trade then, buy stock for the base case and agree a top-up order with the supplier now, rather than buying to the headline.

When should each piece of work start?

Work backwards from the expected start, and hold every date loosely until the moon has been sighted.

Backwards from an expected 8 February start
WhenWhat should be done
Before 4 DecemberCategories, hero products and offers decided, last year's daily sales checked, stock ordered with supplier lead times in mind, courier capacity requested
4 December to 17 JanuaryThe Shopping Festival keeps the team busy, so one named person owns Ramadan, while photography is shot, English copy written, Arabic copy originated and gift bundles and landing pages built
18 January to 7 FebruaryStock received and counted, early-access list open, flows and message templates tested, Eid cut-off dates agreed with the courier, ad creative approved
8 February (expected)Ramadan begins subject to moon sighting, so keep the first day's sends flexible
Final ten daysLast-order dates for Eid delivery shown on every page, with the gifting push timed to them
9 or 10 March (expected)Eid Al Fitr, so cut-offs have passed and the work becomes exchanges, thank-yous and returns
16 or 17 May (expected)Eid Al Adha per Khaleej Times, the next date to plan for, with the same flows ready to reuse

If the team can't carry both the Festival and this plan, bring outside help in before 4 December rather than during the busy weeks. E-commerce marketing is one way to do that, and a freelancer for creative is another. The wider seasonal picture is in the UAE marketing calendar.

What changes in shopping hours, and how do you find out?

Check, don't assume. Pull orders by hour of the day for last Ramadan, if you traded then, and compare the shape with a normal month. If you didn't, run your first week at two different send times and let the order times decide. Then match staffing to the hours, because cash on delivery confirmations and sizing questions arrive when the orders do.

One hard limit applies whatever you find. TDRA's window for marketing text messages is 7 am to 9 pm UAE time, so if your buyers are active later than that, SMS can't follow them. WhatsApp and email can reach later, but a late-night promotion still has to earn its place.

Which offers fit Ramadan without cheapening the brand?

The ones that give a reason to buy now that isn't a countdown clock. Expect shoppers to have had more than ten weeks of sale messages by February: White Friday on 27 November by Amazon Ads' rule, then the Shopping Festival from 4 December. A Ramadan price cut is one more in that run, so run the margin sum from the White Friday plan before you add another.

  • Gift bundles priced a little under the sum of the parts, with wrapping and a message option, so the buyer solves "what do I send" in one click.
  • Free delivery above a basket value set just over your current average order value, which gives shoppers a reason to add one more item.
  • Early access for your list before the first day of Ramadan, so your best customers aren't competing with everyone else for limited stock.
  • A genuine order-by date for Eid delivery. It's the one deadline you never have to invent.

Eid delivery: what do you promise, and when do you stop?

Promise only what your courier has confirmed in writing, and stop promising before the cut-off, not after it. Ask for Eid Al Fitr cut-off dates by delivery speed and emirate as soon as the date firms up (expected 9 or 10 March), then show them on the product page, the cart, the checkout and the WhatsApp confirmation.

Set the cut-off for cash on delivery earlier than for card orders. A refused parcel needs a second attempt, and in the last days before Eid nobody has time for one. Work back from 8 March, the day before the earlier expected Eid date. Imagine your slowest delivery takes four days and a failed attempt adds two: the card cut-off is then 4 March and the cash on delivery cut-off is 2 March.

Plan for gifts that need swapping, because the person opening the parcel isn't the person who bought it. A gift receipt or an exchange link that doesn't need the buyer's login saves you a support thread.

What tone fits, and who should write the Arabic?

Keep it warm and specific. Name the occasion the product is for, give the real order-by date, and leave out the countdown clock that resets every day. Loud urgency is cheap to write and easy to see through.

Brief a native Arabic writer on the greeting and the copy instead of translating the English, because a translated seasonal line is where the seam shows most. Ramadan marketing in the UAE covers tone and campaign ideas beyond the store.

Start with one number: last year's daily revenue in Ramadan against the four weeks before it. Stock, courier and creative decisions all hang on that line, and 4 December is the date to have it by.

Questions people ask

01When does Ramadan 2027 start in the UAE?

The UAE's Astronomy Centre projects Monday 8 February 2027, as The National reported, but official dates follow moon sighting, so treat it as expected and keep your first sends flexible by a day. Eid Al Fitr is projected for 9 or 10 March 2027.

02How much do online sales rise during Ramadan in the UAE?

Admitad, an affiliate network, put the rise in UAE online sales value at about 20% for Ramadan 2025, according to Khaleej Times. Treat it as a market-wide pointer rather than a forecast for your category, and benchmark yourself against your own daily revenue in last year's Ramadan versus the four weeks before.

03When should an online store start preparing for Ramadan?

Roughly nine weeks before an 8 February start, which means by 4 December 2026 for decisions on products, stock and courier capacity. The Dubai Shopping Festival runs from 4 December to 17 January and will absorb your attention if you take part, so finish the Ramadan plan first.

04How early should you publish Eid delivery cut-off dates?

As soon as your courier confirms them in writing, and before Ramadan begins. Eid Al Fitr is expected on 9 or 10 March 2027 and the final date depends on moon sighting, so give cut-offs by delivery speed and emirate, show them on every page and in WhatsApp, and set cash on delivery cut-offs earlier.
