B2B SEO in Dubai: ranking for a few hundred buyers
A B2B company may have only a few hundred possible buyers. Here's how to rank for the problems they search, and how to measure enquiries, not traffic.
The short answer
B2B SEO in Dubai works by ranking for the problems your few hundred buyers search, not for high-volume terms. List the buyers, collect the questions they ask before they know your category, build service, comparison and proof pages around them, and measure enquiries, not visits. If you can name every buyer, outbound outreach may beat SEO as your main channel.
B2B SEO can pay for itself on a handful of enquiries a quarter. Say your average contract is worth AED 150,000 and one in four qualified enquiries closes. On those made-up numbers, five enquiries from search in a quarter would be 1.25 contracts, or AED 187,500 of new business, from traffic too small to register in most keyword tools. That's why the usual advice to chase search volume points the wrong way for you.
Should you buy SEO at all if you can name every buyer?
Not as your main channel, if the list of possible buyers is short enough to contact within a quarter. Count the companies that could realistically buy from you in the UAE. If you can name them all, outbound outreach and relationships will reach them faster than search will. SEO then becomes the supporting channel that makes sure your name holds up when they check you.
SEO earns its place when buyers research before they talk to anyone, or when there are too many of them to name. Check which describes you: ask your last five customers how they first found you, and write down the exact words they used.
What do B2B buyers actually search?
Four kinds of query, and your own sales calls, tender questions and WhatsApp threads hold all of them. Sort what you find into the four kinds in the table, which shows them for a made-up IT support firm in Business Bay.
| Kind | What the buyer is doing | Example queries |
|---|---|---|
| Problem | Trying to fix something | email from our domain going to spam, or how to back up office files offsite |
| Options | Weighing approaches | managed IT support vs in-house IT, or outsource IT for a 30-person office |
| Requirements | Writing a brief or checking a contract | what should an IT support contract include, or IT support response times |
| Supplier | Making a shortlist | IT support company Dubai, or managed IT services Business Bay |
Keyword tools can show little or nothing for strings like these. Treat a blank as missing data, not as proof that nobody searches. The proof is whether your own buyers ask the question. Long-tail keywords are the right name for them, and search intent is the reason each kind needs a different page.
Which pages do you build, and in what order?
- One page per service for each type of buyer, in the buyer's words. A general services page ranks for nothing in particular. If you sell the same service to hospitals and to warehouses, that's two pages.
- A page for each of your top five problem queries. Answer the question in the first paragraph, then show your approach and give a way to ask a follow-up. If you have no answers written down, record your best salesperson explaining one and edit the transcript.
- An honest comparison page: your approach against the real alternatives, including doing nothing and doing it in-house, with who each suits. Say who shouldn't buy from you. It's the page a buyer can forward to a colleague without embarrassment.
- Proof where a buyer can find it: case studies with figures, certifications, your trade licence details and registered address. A buyer vetting a new supplier will look for these, so don't make them hunt. If you have no case study you can publish, ask your best customer for a quote and one number. One real figure beats three adjectives.
- A page for each place you serve, only where you serve it. An industrial-area page makes sense if you have a depot there. A copy of the Dubai page with the city swapped doesn't.
- Arabic only where your buyers read Arabic. Ask two buyers instead of assuming, and if the answer is yes, have a native writer produce the pages.
Link the pages to each other as you go. A problem page should point to the service page that solves it, and the service page should point to the proof. Content clusters explains the pattern.
How do you measure a channel that sends few visits?
Count enquiries, not sessions. Send form submissions, WhatsApp clicks, calls and emails to one place, add a field asking how they found you, and ask the same question on the first call. A tracker that counts only the form misses every buyer who messages on WhatsApp.
Record the page each enquiry started on in your CRM. After a quarter you'll know which pages produce meetings, which is worth more than any ranking report. Conversion tracking is the technical side.
While that builds, Search Console is your early indicator. Watch impressions and clicks for queries that don't contain your brand name, because they show whether new buyers can find you long before an enquiry arrives.
An organic B2B enquiry is rare enough that you shouldn't lose one to a slow reply. A Harvard Business Review study of US companies, reported in 2011, found that firms trying to reach a web lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it, meaning a real conversation with a decision maker, as firms that tried an hour later. That's US data from 2011 and an association rather than proof, but reply the same day anyway. See speed to lead.
How long does B2B SEO take to pay?
We publish SEO timing as movement for most sites in 3 to 4 months, with 6 to 12 for competitive terms. B2B revenue lags further by the length of your sales cycle: if yours runs six months, an enquiry that arrives in month four becomes revenue around month ten.
What should you ask a B2B SEO agency?
Five questions separate an agency that has thought about your buyers from one that will send a traffic report. Each comes with the answer that should worry you.
- How will you report enquiries by page, not just rankings and traffic? A bad answer is a traffic chart.
- Which of my buyers' questions will you write for first, and where did you get them? A bad answer is a keyword tool export and nothing from my sales team.
- What will you do when the tools show no volume for my best queries? A bad answer is to pick different queries.
- Who writes the pages, and have they worked in my sector? A bad answer is a template.
- Whose account will Search Console sit in? The only good answer is yours.
Retained SEO from us begins at AED 12,000 a month, excluding VAT. If that's out of reach, the first three pages in the sequence above are work an owner or a good in-house marketer can do alone, and B2B lead generation in the UAE covers the channels that sit beside it.
Start with the list of questions your salespeople were asked last quarter. It costs nothing, your competitors can't copy it, and it's most of the strategy.
Questions people ask
Does B2B SEO work in Dubai?
It can, when your buyers research before they contact anyone. Test that by asking your last customers how they first found you. It pays in enquiries rather than traffic, so a handful a quarter can justify it, though outbound outreach may be the better main channel if you can name every buyer.
What keywords should a B2B company target?
Start from the questions your buyers asked your sales team: problems, options, requirements and supplier searches. Low or blank volume in keyword tools is normal for these. Judge a keyword by whether a real buyer would ask it, not by its volume.
How do you measure B2B SEO?
By enquiries and the pages they started on, tracked across forms, WhatsApp, calls and email, with a question asking how the buyer found you. Search Console impressions for queries without your brand name are the early indicator while enquiries build.
How long does B2B SEO take?
Most sites see movement in 3 to 4 months on our published timing, and competitive terms take 6 to 12. Revenue arrives later by the length of your own sales cycle, so judge SEO on enquiries first and on contracts after that.
Should a B2B company in the UAE publish Arabic pages?
Only where your buyers read Arabic, which you should confirm by asking two or three of them. If you do publish Arabic pages, a native writer should produce them and your team must be able to answer Arabic enquiries as fast as English ones.
